The ICITD offers a learning environment to the undergraduates to develop effective research skills through their involvement in the ICITD sponsored research activities. The resulted findings of the studies will welcome these undergraduates as co-authors. Moreover, the students are encouraged to disseminate the findings during selected conferences and workshops. In doing so, the students will improve their presentation skills and academic visibility. The Executive Speaker Series are organized monthly to synthesize emerging research themes and challenges and create an environment for knowledge sharing between our research scholars, students and other researchers and/or practitioners across the world. Research Breakfast Meeting |

The International Center for Information Technology and Development, at the Southern University and A&M College hosted a breakfast meeting on Research and Education in Sub Saharan Africa, at Camelot Club, on the 9th of April, 2009, 8.45 – 11.00am. Three eminent scholars from the USA and Cameroon gave an exposition on the current challenges of research and education in Sub Saharan Africa. The eminent guests were: - Prof. Sammy B. Chumbow, University of Yaoundé 1, Cameroon
- Dr Langmia Kehbuma, Bowie State University, USA
- Dr Daniel Shu, Haggai Institute, Cameroon
Professor Sammy B. Chumbow gave a scholarly discourse on the role of Languages in ICTs and cited the key languages used in the cyber world. He emphasized that knowledge is power, and to empower the people, there is need to ensure that they gain proficiency and knowledge of the the key languages of communication, in order to understand the values of the society. He pointed out that knowledge leaves someone who knows to someone in need and this is done via communication. |

The Visit of MUBS Guild President, H.E. Nantamu Arthur |

In the last week of March 2009, ICITD was graced with the visit of the Guild President, H.E. Nantamu Arthur, of Makerere University Business School (MUBS). The President was given a briefing and interaction with students, faculty and research scholars in the College of Business, Southern University (see below). He was also given an exposition on how ICT is used to support learning and teaching activities in the College of Business. He also had an opportunity to meet the President, Dr. Ralphael Slaughter, and the Vice-President, Dr Moses Napoleon, of the Southern University System. |
